The English Gambling Education Hub Film Competition

Do you work with 11-25 year olds?

Take part in our film competition and raise awareness of gambling harms.

The English Gambling Education Hub is launching a film competition. Organisations working with children and young people are invited to create a film that explores the reasons why young people gamble, the associated risks and harms, as well as signposting to support and treatment for those suffering from gambling harms.

The EGEH film competition will celebrate the tremendous talents of young people across England. Entries are open to 11 – 25-year-olds from all educational settings, formal and informal.

Who can get involved?

Any organisation that works with children and young people aged 11-25 years can take part in our competition. This includes schools and colleges, youth groups and community organisations.

Submissions can be entered for the following categories:

  • U13s
  • 13 – 16 years
  • 16 +
  • Open/Mixed Age

Why should you take part?

Taking part in the film competition brings creativity, leadership, and an opportunity to make a change to young people across England. The competition allows young people to:

  • Develop empathy and understanding.
  • Develop communication skills and work collaborativey
  • Work with technology
  • Discover new creative talents
  • Build self-confidence
  • Explore drama, scriptwriting and film making
  • Increase awareness of gambling harms
  • Increase awareness of where to access support and treatment for gambling harms

Prizes

1st Place

£ 500 + the winner will have their film professionally developed as well as being invited to spend the day on the film set when in production.

2nd Place £500

Runners up x 2  £250 each

Got a great idea for a film, but need a little help getting the camera rolling?

The EGEH Film Competition Grant aims to support organisations that work with young people by providing a £250 grant to help fund the project!

We have 50 x £250 grants up for grabs and applications close 24 May 2024.
